Title: To Deliver or Not to Deliver: That is the Question!
Thursday May 14, 2026
Date: May 14, 2026
Time: 8:30pm EST
Delivery timing for a fetus with congenital heart disease is influenced not only by fetal disease but also by maternal risk factors. Please join the Fetal Heart Society for a fun and insightful webinar on May 14, 2026, entitled, “To Deliver or Not to Deliver: That is the Question!” Our case presenters, comprised of sonographers and trainees in fetal cardiology, maternal-fetal-medicine, and neonatology will share cases of complex fetal congenital heart disease anticipated to require neonatal intervention in the context of pregnancy complications that often necessitate preterm delivery: pre-eclampsia, placenta accreta spectrum, and preterm premature rupture of membranes. Our expert panelist team includes fetal cardiologist Dr. Erin Madriago, neonatologist Dr. Emily Morris, and maternal-fetal-medicine specialists Dr. Jennifer Gilner and Dr. Lisa Zuckerwise. They will highlight obstetrical delivery guidelines in the context of the increased morbidity/mortality for babies with critical congenital heart disease delivered prematurely and discuss how to navigate the risk/benefit balance for mother and baby.
